Children´s Reflection on Totalitarianism in the Proses of Jáchym Topol

The master´s thesis deals with particularities of representation of incoming totality of year 1968 by a child focalizer in prose Noční práce (Night Work) and Kloktat dehet (Gargling with Tar) by Jáchym Topol. To fulfil the aim, an analysis of narration that focuses on construction of narrative methods and character typology is conducted and a thematic level of text is also studied in the above-mentioned texts. The aim of the thesis is, on the basis of analysis, to incorporate chosen texts into context of author´s work and to study "commitment" of his texts.

Narrators of Josef Škvorecký

The thesis analyses two short stories of Josef Škvorecký from 1948, Cesta k ateliérům and Divák v únorové noci. Besides the basic inclusion in the author's work are the short stories put to a detailed analyse of compositional and language elements. Main focus is concentrated on the subject of ich-narrator, which merges with the main character, and on his narrative methods and functions in the textual construction. The comparation of women's characters in proses and fairy tales of Božena Němcová

Summary: The focus of the thesis with the topic The comparation of women's characters in fairy tales and proses of Božena Němcová is compared female characters in selected Czech and Slovak fairy tales and proses of Božena Němcová. The emphasis is on description of the relationship between the two genres in terms mythic-archetypal and also in terms of narrative methods. The work focuses on a comparison of some key themes in the life of the female character, such as the theme of motherhood, marriage or family togetherness. Methodologically the work embodied in narratology, the theory of gender and psychoanalysis. This theoretical bases allow to define the differences between the heroines of fairy tales and prose works and point out the blending of the two genres on the plane of the women's characters.
